Mary Munley joined the team at Harper Adams University in September 2014 as a Senior Lecturer in Marketing and Management. Mary has extensive corporate experience in the agri-food business sector with large, international corporates such as Cargill, Bookers and ICI. Her roles in product marketing and business development, involved launching new technology products, developing distributor networks and managing award winning communications campaigns. Mary also has over 10 years’ experience as a marketing consultant working with SME business owners and managers helping them to develop and implement successful business and marketing plans. She also has experience of delivering enterprise programmes in several universities and extensive work with women’s enterprise organisations including Women in Rural Enterprise (WiRE).

Since 2010 Mary has worked in higher education, and as a Fellow of the Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing uses her business expertise to deliver undergraduate and masters’ level programmes where strategic marketing, communications and business consultancy skills are essential.  Students have benefited from her industry contacts by working on live brief assignments with exciting brands such as Aspall Cyder. Mary has experience of working in several European countries including Scandinavia and is currently learning Mandarin. “I would encourage students to develop digital skills and a language option. The food industry is global and marketing communications increasingly digital. The opportunities for students with these skills are very exciting.
