You will be sent your online enrolment instructions and password separately from 1 September 2016. You will have to enrol by 12 September 2016. NB During online enrolment you will be given the opportunity to upload your photo for your ID card. Please make sure this is accessible so we can print off your card prior to your arrival.
The Accommodation Office at Harper Adams is located within Student Services and we are here to support you and to provide advice about your accommodation needs. We appreciate that your requirements may be different to undergraduate students. The vast majority of postgraduate students live off campus in private rental accommodation or lodgings and there is no shortage of this in the area. Please bear in mind that the postgraduate accommodation available on campus is limited (and may not be available) but we will assist you in securing suitable accommodation.
The first phase of accommodation applications has now closed and for that reason you will be unable to submit an application online for on-campus accommodation at the moment. However, please contact us to register your interest in receiving information about postgraduate accommodation via firstname.lastname@example.org and we can then update you on accommodation options still available, prior to the formal clearing period.
Part time students only
Part-time students can arrange accommodation for when they will be on campus by contacting the Conference Office on 01952 815324 – this is available to book now. If there is no accommodation available they have an extensive list of local B&Bs.
As part of online enrolment, you will have checked and provided us with some of your personal details. If any of these have changed, you should notify the Postgraduate officer at email@example.com.

Yes! With about 600 students living on campus our efficient laundry staff need to know exactly whose clothes belong to whom, just in case the odd sock or t-shirt goes astray during the washing and ironing process. Your washing will need to be sent to the Laundry in an appropriate laundry bag (cotton/linen and non-wired), which must also be clearly labelled with your name.
It is essential that you provide photographic ID at enrolment - a passport is preferred. If you do not have a passport, please bring a drivers licence accompanied by a birth certificate. Please bring originals (you can take them away with you) AND A PHOTOCOPY. If you do not have the ID mentioned above, please contact the Admissions Team for advice.
There are lockers available in the Postgraduate Centre for your use. Please see Heather if you wish to obtain one. There will be a charge if you lose the key - so don’t! Do not forget to return the key once you have emptied your locker at the end of the year.
No. You will need to arrange for your electrical items to be PAT tested (Portable Appliance Testing) before you arrive to ensure they comply with current safety regulations. This can be done by any registered electrician. Further details are in your accommodation information.
The ‘Feed Store’ shop is located on the ground floor of the Faccenda Centre. The shop sells many essentials including toiletries, stationery and basic food items. The ‘Feed Store’ is open at the following times:
Located at 27 High Street, Edgmond, Edgmond Village Stores is only 1.2 miles from the campus and is within walking distance. It is a local Spar and Post Office. The Post Office is open Monday – Friday 9:00 – 5:30pm and on Saturdays from 9:00 – 12:30pm.
We run a free shuttle bus service during undergraduate term time between the campus and Newport, which runs at regular intervals in the mornings, at lunch time and at the end of the day. More information and a current timetable can be found at:
Yes. Standard post i.e. bank statements, mobile bills etc. can be collected from behind the reception desk in the Faccenda Centre. Mail will be put in pigeon holes arranged by student surname, each morning ready for collection throughout the day. Please make sure you check your pigeon hole at least once a week.
Any items sent by Recorded or Special Delivery, or which are overtly personal (e.g. parcels, birthday cards, magazines, hospital letters and handwritten envelopes), will be held at the Faccenda Reception desk for collection, and you will be emailed to inform you that you have an item awaiting collection. You can collect your items from Faccenda Reception during term-time from 12.00pm to 2.00pm Monday-Friday. You will need to show your student ID card before your item will be issued.
Yes, (unless you are an overseas student who needs to comply with visa regulations) you can work part-time but your hours must fit around your studies.
There are a number of part-time jobs available on campus; students can be recruited as Harper Ambassadors to host potential students and their guests at open days and other events, and there are positions on offer in the SU Bar and in the catering outlets.
Alternatively students can seek part-time employment in the local area where the opportunities may include positions at retail and catering outlets and at nearby farms.
Harper Adams University is proud to host over 20 Clubs, Societies and Common interest groups with a diverse mix of members from all courses and backgrounds. From celebrated and highly successful sports clubs such Rugby, Hockey and Shooting to smaller student led initiatives such as Ballet and Modern Dance and Taekwon-Do. Harper also recognises that not all of our students are necessarily looking for sports to pursue in their spare time, so groups like the Video Gaming Society, HOPS (Harper Outdoor Pursuits Society) as well as regional groups such as Harper Ireland and Harper Cymru remain popular, with organised activities and trips on a regular basis.

Lilleshall National Sports and Conferencing Centre is world famous as a premier sporting venue and located less than 4 miles from the campus.

Students on the MSc and PgD REALM course are encouraged to join the RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors). Student membership is free and can be obtained by registering on the RICS website.
Full membership of the RICS (designated by MRICS) is achieved by successful completion of the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC). Part time postgraduate students may also register for the APC from the start of their studies, provided they are in suitable employment and have a bachelor’s degree with honours.
The fee for registration and certificate checks is a one-off payment of £502 payable (2016 rate) at any time before final assessment. In addition, students who wish to work through the APC while also studying part-time will have to become probationer RICS members for which the annual subscription is £152 (2016 rate). This is an annual fee based on the calendar year. For enrolments on or after 1 October the fee is credited against the next calendar year. In practice these fees are often paid by employers. The RICS also offers an Associate route to membership (AssocRICS) and Experience Route, for which different arrangements apply. These prices are correct in August 2016 and are reviewed annually. The latest information is always available from the RICS.
